Title
Campus Notice: Rogers-Stout Hall Steam Line Repairs and Temporary Steam Shutdown

Message

Facilities Management will begin replacing a leaking underground steam condensate line at Rogers-Stout Hall on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This repair is necessary to address the current leak and reduce the risk of additional damage to nearby underground infrastructure.

Project Schedule

  • Thursday, October 22: The contractor will mobilize, install orange construction fencing, and begin removing the concrete sidewalk.
  • Friday, October 23: Excavation will begin, and the contractor will prepare the piping for replacement.
  • Saturday, October 24: Steam service to the southeast side of campus will be temporarily shut down to complete the repairs.
  • Sunday, October 25: Steam service is expected to be restored by late morning.

The schedule is subject to change based on field conditions and repair progress.

Buildings Affected by the Steam Shutdown

The following buildings will temporarily be without heat during the steam shutdown:

  • Nicks Hall
  • D.P. Culp Student Center
  • Sherrod Library
  • Rogers-Stout Hall
  • Burgin Dossett Hall
  • Governors Hall
  • Centennial Hall
  • Davis Apartments

Please plan accordingly during this temporary interruption of steam service.

Construction Area and Pedestrian Access

The construction area is located near the northwest corner of the building entrance, on the right-hand side.

Orange construction fencing will extend from the steps at the main entrance on the west side of Rogers-Stout Hall to the sidewalk near the swing. Pedestrians will still be able to exit through the northeast door and access the steps on the east side of the building.

During the project, the sidewalk along Stout Drive will need to be temporarily closed to accommodate dump trucks loading excavated materials. Pedestrians will be directed around the building using a designated detour. Please follow all posted signs and avoid entering the fenced construction area.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as Facilities Management completes these necessary repairs to maintain the reliability and safety of campus infrastructure.
