Recommend providing further clarity on defined terms. For example:

  • The defined term of Census Date is used in the definition of said term. Recommend revising to something like “As indicated on the ETSU Academic Calendar, the date on which an official and final enrollment count is recorded.”
  • Also, the definition of Continuous Enrollment doesn't really define the term - it just reiterates part of the applicable policy. Recommend “Registration during each semester (including summer) of the academic year until the degree is attained unless a leave of absence (or withdrawal) has been granted.”
  • For Matriculation Limit, suggest “The time period in which course work can be applied to a graduate degree or certificate program as defined in the policy on Graduate School Matriculation (Time) Limits.” Also, note that the Graduate School Matriculation (Time) Limits policy indicates that it also applies to certificate programs; however this policy indicates “degree program” - that likely needs to be clarified and the definition proposed may need to be updated accordingly.

Also, I notice that students may be requested to provide documentation for personal exigency, illness, or family care, but may be required to submit appropriate documentation for military leave. Shouldn't these be consistent across all circumstances?

Thanks for your consideration.
