This policy specifies paydays, timekeeping, compensatory time, worked holidays, paid overtime, and time clocks. The changes indicated in this policy reflect the changes due to the Voyager project. This policy will not be in effect until right before the Voyager go live date.
Requiring a certain group of employees to use a time clock flies in the face of “People come first and are treated with dignity and respect.” If there are issues with individual employees, handle those through progressive discipline.
The requirement of a time clock conveys a lack of trust for the employees required to do so. Having it apply to some staff and not others displays that ETSU is choosing to create a difference between staff who make a certain amount of money. I agree that it should be applied to everyone or not applied at all.
I don't think it is fair to non-exempt employees to be required to clock. It should be the whole university. Since I am the only one required to clock in my department it makes me feel like I am not part of the team. I feel very degraded by being required to do this starting in July. I have always been honest about my time since the day I started at ETSU. It is very unfair considering the way many exempt employees do not record their time off. Again, it should be the whole university using the Web Clock.
